William S. Goedecke

William Skinner Goedecke was born on August 28, 1922, in New York City, New York, to Rebecca E Skinner, age 23, and Milton Goedecke, age 34. He had one sister Sally. In Rye his family lived on Hillcrest Lane and were members of Christ's Church.

William was a graduate of Phillip- Exeter Academy, class of 1940. He interrupted his studies at Yale to enlist in the Army.

William served as an officer in the U.S. Army during World War II He enlisted on October 1, 1942, in New York City, New York, when he was 20 years old. He served for four years with the U. S. Army Signal Corps in the Pacific.

After the war, he continued his education and was a graduate of Yale University which awarded him the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1947

William was a vice president with the New York Investment firm of Smith Barney & Co and started with the firm in 1948.

On January 20, 1951, he married Miss Janet Chatman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph T Chatman of Van Wagenen Avenue in Christ's Episcopal Church.

William was a past director of the Rye YMCA, a vice president of the Exeter Alumni Association of Greater New York, and a past president of The Investment Association of New York, New York City.

William Skinner Goedecke died November 26, 2014.
