BIOGRAPHY
William P. Beary
William P. Beary was born on May 1 1919 in Rye, the son of Daniel H and Sophia Burns Beary. In Rye his family lived at
115 Purchase Street
and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. He attended Rye Schools and was an alumnus of Rye High School.
He joined the Rye Fire Department 1938 and was a captain of the Poningoe Engine and Hose Co. He was also a member of the department's Board of Fire Wardens.
William Philip Beary enlisted in the Army on February 24, 1941, in Greenwich, Connecticut, during World War II. He was 21 years old. He would be honorably discharged October 20, 1945. After the war, William married the former Helen Chalmers in 1949 in New York City.
In 1958 William founded County Bus Lines and would sell the firm in 1978. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post No 7550, the Port Chester Oldtimers Club and the Rye Hunters Club.
William Beary of Rye, founder of County Bus Lines and a former Rye Fire Department warden and company captain died January 14, 1984 at United Hospital in Port Chester. He was 64
At the time of his death he was survived by his wife, by one son John E Beary of Rye, one daughter Barbara R Verille of Greewich one brother
