William A. Banks

William A. Banks was born in Port Chester New York October 24, 1925. In Rye his family lived at 23 Goldwin St.. William was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1943. In school he loved music, performing in the dance band and orchestra and singing in the glee club.

After high school, he attended Hampton Institute in Hampton Va.



William enlisted and served in the the U.S. Navy during World War II. He would also serve in the Army as a sergeant during the Korean War.

After his service, William lived locally in Westchester and was very active in the NAACP.

William A. Banks died November 15, 2010 in New Rochelle
