Walter Perkins Welch
Walter Perkins Welch was born on November 5, 1917, in Stoneham, Massachusetts, to Grace Lena Pinne, age 26, and Walter Perkins Welch, age 29. He had a sister Margery and a brother Richard.
In Rye his family lived at 43 Horton St. and were members of the Presbyterian Church. Walter was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1937 and Colgate University .
He served as an officer in the U.S. Army during World War II. he received his commission May 8, 1942.
Walter Perkins Welch married Dorothy Cornelia Kenny in Connecticut in 1942 when he was 25 years old. They had three children during their marriage.

FORT RILEY, KANS - First Lt. Walter P. Welch, Jr. , son of Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Welch, of 43 Horton Street, was graduated last week from the Officers Advanced Course at The Cavalry School, it was announced by Col. Thomas W. Herren, the commandant. Lieutenant Welch, who entered service in September, 1941, was commissioned at The Infantry School, Fort Benning, Ga. His wife lives in Westport, Conn.

After four years of service Walter received his honorable discharge. He and his young family would live in Westport CT. Walter was then working as a purchasing agent for an office supplies company.
Walter Perkins Welch died on April 19, 1988, in Paxton, Massachusetts, when he was 70 years old.
