Stephen Paul Boochever
Stephen Paul Boochever was born in New York City, March 7, 1909, son of the late George B. and Blanche (Kaufman) Boochever. In Rye his family lived at Blind Brook Lodge. Stephen was a graduate with an LLB from St. John's University, class of 1932, and did graduate studies in International Law at several European universities including the Academy of International Law at the World Court in Hague, the Netherlands.
He was formerly with the Department of Correction for the city of New York as deputy commissioner of correction appointed by Mayor Fiorrello LaGuardia
Stephen served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II, with the rank of lieutenant commander.
After the war he married Alice Jean Golden in 1950 in New York City, New York. They had three children during their marriage.
Stephen established his own firm in 1958, Interstate-Boochever of Fairlawn, N. J., until retiring in 1964, and chairman of the Board of llikon Corp. Natick, Mass.
In 1975, he joined with his wife, with the firm of Jeanne Bouchever of Essex, manufacturer and distributor of ladies accessories.
He established the Boochever Art Scholarship, and the contribution of the Boochever Art Collection to Patterson State University, Patterson, N.J., and was awarded an honorary doctor of letters by Patterson University in 1966, and was founding member of the College Development Board.
Stephen was chairman of the Board of Jeanne Bouchever Inc. of Essex, and a resident of Old Saybrook for four years.
S. Paul Boochever, 74, of 52 Cromwell Place, Old Say-brook, died Sunday, May 22, 1983 at his home. He was survived by his wife, Jeanne (Golden) Boochever of Old Saybrook; a son, T. Sloane Boochever of New York City; two daughters, Mrs. Brooks H. (Allison) Sawyer of Westwood, Mass., and Mrs. Richard W. (Leslie) York of Larchmont, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Margery Perlo of Sugar Hill, N.H., and Miss Joan Boochever of New York City; three grandchildren.
