Stephen J. Fallon

Stephen John Fallon was born on September 10, 1909, in New York to Mary Flemming, age 37, and Martin Fallon, age 38. He had one brother Thomas and three sisters Agnes, Catherine and Mary.

In Rye his family lived at 451 Midland Avenue and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Stephen was a Rye High School graduate he was an outstanding three sport athlete and captain of the 1926 football team. Before the war, Stephen was working for Murray Auto Sales in Harrison, NY.

He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Stephen served as a sergeant with the 119th Medical Regiment, 44th Infantry Division.

He participated in the following campaigns Northern France (25 July – 14 September 44), Rhineland (15 September 1944 – 21 March 1945, Ardennes-Alsace (16 December 1944 – 25 January 1945 and Central Europe (22 March 1945 – 11 May 1945.

Stephen's unit endured 190 days of combat with a total of 5,655 battle casualties and it was issued 3 Distinguished Unit Citations.

After the war, he returned home to his work in auto sales and as a member of the Rye Fire department. Stephen was very active in veteran's affairs. He secured housing and helped with employment for returning veterans.

He was was the American Legion Post 128 Commander, where he led all Memorial Day and Veterans Day services for 20 years, retiring in 1967.

Stephen John Fallon died on January 30, 1999, in Port Chester, New York, when he was 89 years old.
