Robert S. Dodge

Robert Squire Dodge was born on January 21, 1889, in New York City, New York, to Susie Lucas Squire, age 35, and Arnold Robert Dodge, age 34. During World War I, he was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army. In Rye his family lived at 64 Greenhaven Road.

Robert enlisted in 1942 and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

Robert S. Dodge of Scarsdale, vice commander of the flotilla, also left yesterday for service with the Coast Guard. Mr. Dodge has donated his boat for six months, in variation, and will serve with it all that time. He has as received a junior lieutenant's commission, having passed the required examinations.


Before and after WWII, Robert was a stockbroker, he operated the firm of R.S. Dodge Company of New York City.

He was a member of the Westchester Country Club, the New Rochelle Lodge of Elks and the New York Athletic Club. He was an oarsman for the New Rochelle Rowing Club for many years, capturing several honors for the club.

Robert S. Dodge, a former longtime resident of New Rochelle, died on March 30, 1975 at Putnam Community Hospital, Carmel, N.Y. He was 86 years old.

He is survived by his wife, and a nephew, Harold Pitts.
