Robert H. Langeloh

Robert H. Langeloh was born on February 4, 1923, in Rye New York. In Rye his family lived on Winthrop Place and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Robert was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1940. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Robert served in the U.S. 10th Mountain Division. In late 1944 the 10th was shipped to Italy, fought courageously against the Nazis in many battles, and saw 114 days of combat.

The Division arrived in Italy on January 6th, 1945 and immediately entered combat. It fought in the roughest terrain of Italy during WWII. Robert saw combat in Cutigliano, Battle of Monte Castello, Monte Della Torraccia-Mount Belvedere, Canolle, Mongiorgio, Torbole and Nago. The division had 992 killed in action and 4,154 wounded in action.

After the war Robert worked for the Food Machinery and Chemical Corporation, New York City. He married Jean Eleanor Kleppinger on February 7, 1959. Thee had two children during their marriage.
He died on August 11, 2013, in West Lebanon, New Hampshire, at the age of 90.
