Pierce Patrick Savage was born on July 8, 1920, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, his father, Patrick, was 30 and his mother, Mary, was 27. He had two sisters Margaret and Mary and a brother James.
In Rye his family lived at 60 Orchard Avenue and were members of the Chu. Pierce was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1938. He spent two years studying at NYU . He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Pierce enlisted on January 21, 1944. He was assigned as a Signal Corps lineman attached to the 104th Infantry Division

Pfc. Pierce Savage Wounded In Germany Awarded Purple Heart
Mrs. Patrick Savage, of 60 Orchard Avenue, has received the Purple Heart decoration awarded her son, Pfc. Pierce P. Savage, a Signal Corps lineman, wounded in the foot in Germany, and now in a hospital in England, Although he did not enter the service until January 1944, Pfc. Savage has been in four major campaigns. He is a graduate of Rye High School and was a student for two years at New York University. Before joining the Army, he was a civilian employee in Panama. He was assigned to overseas duty in July. A brother, RM 3/c James Savage, is serving with the Navy in the Pacific, and a brother-in-law, Frank Mack, F2/c, is aboard a destroyer known to have taken part in the invasion of Iwo Jima.

Pierce was honorably discharged on April 1,1946 and returned to Rye. He married Lois Harper and they had two sons and one daughter. Pierce Patrick Savage died on January 14, 1997, in St Johns, Florida, at the age of 76.
