Peter Lufkin was born in New York in 1925. In Rye his family lived on Kirby Lane. Peter enlisted in 1943 and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Peter Wende Lufkin, Sr., 87, of Hopewell Twp., passed away Friday, June 29, 2012, in his home.
Born March 8, 1925, in Rye, NY, he was a son of the late Chauncey and Margaret (Wende) Lufkin. Mr. Lufkin was a graduate of Yale University and retired as a self-employed investment banker. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran having served in World War II and was a member of St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church in Aliquippa.
Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Cheryl (Robbins) Lufkin; two sons and daughters-in-law, H. Christopher and Hope Lufkin of Marblehead, Mass.; Tim and Lauren Lufkin of Greenwich, CT; a stepson, John Kordowski of Hopewell Twp.; three grandchildren, Brooks, Ellie and Sarah; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Chauncey and Liz Lufkin of Tacoma, WA and Dan and Cynthia Lufkin of Washington Depot, CT, and his two canine companions, Sencion and Zena.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Peter W. Lufkin, Jr.
Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. in the TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 2205 McMinn Street, Aliquippa, www.tatalovichfuneralhome.com. Mr. Lufkin's funeral service will be private.
He will be laid to rest in St. Elijah Church Cemetery, Hopewell Twp.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA, Beaver County Humane Society or IOCC.
