Patrick A. Denofrio
Patrick Anthony Denofrio was born on September 5, 1905, in Rye, New York. In Rye his family lived at 90 Maple Avenue Rye and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Patrick enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
A golf professional, he left Rye in 1924 to become a pro at the Highpoint Country Club, High Point, N. C.
Patrick married Martha Louise Poole in Rowan, North Carolina, on January 8, 1938, when he was 32 years old.
Patrick was also employed as a bookkeeper with the Statesville Country Club from 1928 to 1944.
He entered the U.S. Army and served overseas until his discharge in 1946. He also worked as a golf professional at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensborough, NC
He was a communicant of the Church of the Resurrection in Rye and St Phillips Roman Catholic Church in Statesville. Just prior to his illness he was employed as a bookkeeper for the Statesville Packing Co
The funeral of Patrick Anthony Denofrio, 49, former Rye resident who died Saturday July 10, 1954 at the Iredell Memorial Hospital, Statesville, N. C. was held at the Church of the Resurrection. The Rev. Cornelius OBrien, assistant pastor, was the celebrant of the mass; The Rev. Leo Nolan, of Archbishop Stepinac High School was deacon and the Rev. Ivo McElroy, pastor of the Phillips Roman Catholic Church, Statesville, N. C. was the sub deacon.
Interment services were conducted by Father OBrien at St. Marys Cemetery, assisted by Father McElroy.
He was the husband of Martha Louise Toole Denofrio, who survived him, and was well known in the Milton section of Rye.
Surviving besides his wife and mother, Mrs. Mary Riccio Denofrio, both of the home address are two sisters, Mrs. Grace Martino and Miss Jennie Denofrio of Statesville.
