BIOGRAPHY
Neil J. Carey
Cornelius J. "Neil" CAREY was born on September 22, 1922, in Rye, New York, his father, Thomas, was 38 and his mother, Kathleen, was 27. In Rye his family lived at
44 Meadow Place
and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Neil was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1941. He served as an officer in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
Neil J, Carey Graduates From U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
Neil graduated from the US Merchant Marine Academy. He served in World War II convoys with a Naval Commission.
He married Joan in 1953 in New York City, New York and they had six children during their marriage.
He sailed for US Lines and Grace Lines and spent a long career in maritime management in New York City. He was President of Panocean-Anco Tanker Service, NY, a founding member of the Connecticut Maritime Assn.. He was also a member of the society of Maritime Arbitrators,NY and a Past Commodore of the Rudder Club of NY.
NEIL J. CAREY 85, of Stamford died January 27, 2008. At the time of his death he was survived by his wife Joan Carey, a sister Margaret Roland, children Brian (Gail), Kevin (Margaret), Kathleen, Constance (Donald) van Rhyn, Michael and Patrick and six grandchildren.
