BIOGRAPHY
Livingston P. Werner
Livingston P. Werner was born in New York May 1,1911 to Rose Livingston and William H Werner. Livingston was a middle child of six, he had four brothers Jacob, William,
Robert
and
Thomas
along with his sister Helen. In Rye his family lived at
45 Grace Church St
and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. He attended Resurrection School n Rye and Rye High School, where he played basketball.
Livingston enlisted February 19, 1943 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He served in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps as a medic, then as a technician fifth grade. He saw action in Normandy and northern France and the Ardennes. Livingston was decorated with the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal.He was honorably discharged December 10, 1945.
Livingston worked for the City of Rye for many years and then the Electrolux Corp. for ten years before retiring. In 1978 he married Helen Delahanty.
He was a volunteer firefighter for around 30 years at the Locust Avenuer fire station in Rye and a member of Resurrection Church.
Livingston P. Werner, a lifelong Rye resident who had worked for Electrolux Corp. and the city of Rye, died December 11, 1988 at United Hospital in Port Chester. He was 77. The cause of death was not disclosed.
At the time of his death he was survived by his wife; a brother, Robert Werner of Rye, and a sister, Helen Schneider of Chappaqua.
