Leonard P. Russo

Leonard P. Russo was born in New York Januarry 22,1916 and he lived at 118 Maple Avenue in Rye, New York. (Street View) Rye was a small town with a population of 9,865. Leonard's mother Grace owned this home and it was valued at $1,600 ($30,400 in today’s dollars).

The members of the household included his brother Frank and his three sisters Antoinette, Mary and Margaret. Leonard's mother was born in Italy and Leonard and his siblings were all born in New York. In 1940, at the age 22, Leonard was a middle child and his mother was 50 and had an elementary education.

Leonard was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1936. At RHS he played football and baseball, was a junior coach and a member of the Self Reliant Club. Leonard and all the family were parishioners of The Church of the Resurrection. Before the war he worked at Westchester Country Club and also as a laborer in road contruction. He enlisted in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II

After the war Leonard worked for Department of Public Works in Rye. He died December 1, 1976
