Jonathan F Butler
Jonathan F Butler was born Jan. 26, 1904 in New York City, son of Henry Weil and Grace Elise Fairchild Butler. Jonathan studied architecture and was a 1926 graduate of Cornell University.
He married Mary Elizabeth Putnam on February 14, 1931, in Rye, New York. Soon after the couple would move to Rye and start a family, they had four children during their marriage and were members of the Christ's Church.
Jonathan served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

After the war, Jonathan became a well-known architect and was past chairman of the Rye City Planning Commission.
A resident of Rye since 1931, he was a senior partner in the firm of Rogers, Butler and Burgun. Jonathan was known throughout the profession for hospital design. His firm did work on United Hospital.
He was a member of the American Institute of Architects of New York and past chairman of its professional ethics committee, a member of the New York Society of Architects and the Municipal Art Society, the Union League Club, the City Mid-day Club, the Century Association, and the American Yacht Club.
Jonathan Fairchild Butler died on July 20, 1974, at his home, 19 Rockridge Road in Rye, New York, at the age of 70, and was buried in Brooklyn, New York.
Funeral services were held at Christ's Church. for Jonathan Fairchild Butler, 70, a well-known architect and past chairman of the Rye City Planning Commission, who died Saturday at his home, 19 Rockridge Road.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Anne Baker Butler; three daughters, Mrs. Sally Butler Somers of Newport Beach, Calif., Mrs. Nancy Butler White of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Grace Johnson of Princeton, N. J.; a son, Jonathan Putnam Butler of New York City; a sister, Mrs. Butler Hoge of Manchester, Vt.; and nine grandchildren.
