BIOGRAPHY
John R Bumstead
John R Bumstead was born in St. Louis, Mo. July 22, 1923 to Robert and Edna McGarrahan Bumstead. He had a brother
William
and a sister Edna. In Rye his family lived at
333 Rye Beach Avenue
and were members of the Presbyterian Church. John was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1941.
He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

USS Woolsey
and the
USS Carmick
and received the Asiatic Pacific Medal.
Taking Navy V-12 Training
John R. Bumstead, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Bumstead, 333 Rye Beach Avenue, has been accepted for Navy V-12 training at the University of Texas.

John had been a resident of Dade County Florida since 1944. He was with the Public Works Dept. with the City of Miami for over 25 years. He was a Supervisor with the Council for the City of Miami Employees and was a member of the South Fla. Historical Society.
John R Bumstead, of 8910 SW 17th St., Miami, passed away at Doctors Hospital on Saturday, June 8,1974.
He was survived by his wife Evelyn, Miami, brother Robert E. Bumstead, New Hint. dor, NY, sisters, Mrs. William Conover and Miss Edna Mae Bumstead, NY.
