BIOGRAPHY
John M. Bitz
John M. Bitz was born in New York June 4, 1907, the son of John J. and Mary Jane MacDougall Bitz. In Rye his family lived at 135 Railroad Ave and were members of the Presbyterian Church.
A graduate of Brunswick School in Greenwich and the Clark School in New Hampshire, he later studied at Dartmouth College.
John enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. He served in the European theater during World War II.
He was a retired tree surgeon and owner of the Westchester Tree Service in Rye.
John Marston Bitz, 89 Hillside Road, died suddenly Monday March 1, 1970 at United Hospital of an apparent heart attack after shoveling snow. Funeral services were held at the ''Craft Memorial Home.'' Interment was in Kensico Cemetery.
He was survived by a sister, Anita Bitz of Rye, and several aunts and cousins
