John J. Ryan

John J. Ryan was born in New York July 24, 1917 to Annie and Michael Ryan. He had two brothers Francis and James and a sister Anna. In Rye his family lived at 15 School Street and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Before the war he was employed at NYA in New Rochelle NY.

John enlisted on July 28, 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged on February 19, 1946

In 1950 John was living in Tarrytown NY. He was 33 years old and never married and taking care of his mother now 76 years old. At that time, he was supporting them working as a clerk in a grocery store chain.

John J. Ryan died July 18, 1993 and is buried at Calverton National Cemetery.
