When John Joseph Billington was born on July 26, 1926, in Rye, New York, his father, Lambert, was 31 and his mother, Rose, was 32. In Rye his family lived at 25 Purchase Street and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. John enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He married Florence Scalzi on November 27, 1948 in Rye and they had one daughter together. She died tragically as a result of injuries due to a auto accident in 1951. "John J. Billington of the Navy, was called to his wife's side from his ship in the Pacific after the accident and was with her when she died".

He then married Sheila Nora Eastwood and they had three children together. We know through his fathers obituary in 1968 that he was a carreer navy man and Lt John Billington of the US Navy was stationed at Virginia Beach Va.

John Joseph Billington died on April 23, 2003, in Sacramento, California, at the age of 76.
