Sgt. Jack Lawrence of the 109th Infantry, 28th Division, who was awarded the Purple Heart and Oak Leaf Clusters, has been reported missing in action in France since December 17. Sgt. Lawrence was offered an opportunity to return to the United States after he was wounded, but preferred to rejoin his regiment in the historic defense of Luxembourg against Von Runstedts German forces. He was reported missing directly after this battle.
