George Gordon was born in Massachusetts in 1920. In Rye his family lived at 31 Rosemere St and were members of the Presbyterian Church. George enlisted in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Sergt. Gordon Tank Mechanic Sergt. George Gordon 3rd, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Gordon, Jr. , of 6 Cowles Avenue, is among the graduates in the class of skilled tank mechanics which recently completed the course at the Armored School Tank Department, Fort Knox, Ky. Trained to lead the big General Shermans, General Grants, and their little brothers, the light tanks roaring into combat* Sergt.
