Frank W. Hurst

Frank W. Hurst was born in New York September 4,1925 to Frank and Julia Gross Hurst. In Rye his family lived at 489 Milton Road. Frank went to Rye High School where he played football and was a graduate with the Class of 1942.

He enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Frank served aboard the USS Argonne in 1943. USS Argonne (AP-4/AS-10/AG-31) was a Design 1024 cargo ship built under United States Shipping Board contract by the International Shipbuilding Corp., Hog Island, Pennsylvania, for the United States Department of War. Named Argonne for the U.S. Army's Meuse-Argonne campaign in World War I.

During another part of his service, Frank served on the USS Traw DE 350, from 20 Jun 1944 - 31 Dec 1944. USS Traw (DE-350) was a John C. Butler-class destroyer escort in service with the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946, serving in the South Pacific.

Frank was honorably discharged October 11, 1946. He married Dorothy L. Ebert June 11,1947 in Bronx, NY. In 1950 the couple were living in the Bronx and Frank was working in a bank as a credit clerk.


Frank died December 15, 1994 in White Plains NY.
