BIOGRAPHY
Francis W. Hennis was born in New York in 1923. In Rye his family lived at 46 Oakland Gardens. Francis enlisted in 1943 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Enlistment Date 1: 26 Jan 1943 Release Date 1: 22 Dec 1945 He served in the U. S. Navy during W. W. II and the Korean Conflict.
Francis Walter Hennis
Funeral services for F. Walter Hennis of Springfield, MO were held Wednesday, May 30, 1990 at 2 p.m. The Schutte Funeral Home in Postville was in charge. Rev. Paul Otting officiated. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Francis Walter Hennis, son of David Walter and Catherine (Merritt) Hennis, was born December 20, 1923 at Port Chester, New York. He died Saturday, May 26, 1990 in Lester Cox Medical Center at Springfield, MO.
He was baptized into the Catholic faith as an infant. He graduated from high school in Port Chester, NY and from college at Oxford, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Navy during W. W. II and the Korean Conflict.
On January 11, 1964 he married Joan Bohr in St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church at Ossian. He taught music in several schools including Ossian, Waucoma, McGregor, Clermont and others. He was also employed as a salesman by Kephart's Music Center in Decorah.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Elvera. Surviving is his wife Joan. For the past 20 years they have lived in Springfield, MO where he was employed by Hoover Music. Casket bearers were Cyril, Jerome, Vernon and James Bohr, Ralph Moellers and Eugene Novak. From Dorothy Schave's obituary collection
