Erastus C. ''Charlie'' Deal Jr was born on February 7, 1914, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Caroline Wahl Deal, age 31, and Erastus Charles Deal, age 36. In Rye his family lived in Blind Brook Lodge
Charlie was a graduate of the Augusta Military Academy in Virginia and attended the University of Virginia. He enlisted and served as an officer in U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and Korea.
Charlie married Margaret R Campbell on February 14, 1943, in New York.
CAPT. DEAL AT AIR BASE Capt. Erastus Charles Deal. Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Deal, Blind Brook Lodge, Rye, has been assigned to a medium bombardment group as pilot at the Army Air Base, Columbua, S. C., where he has reported for duty, Capt. Deal, who waS commercial pilot and Instructor in civilian life, received his flight training at Army flying schools at Mitchel Field. N. Y., Morris Field, N. C.. and Godman Field, Ky. Charlie retired a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, serving during World War II and the Korean War as a pilot and base commander. He had served in the Royal Canadian Air Force prior to World War II. He was a member of the Air Force Association, the New York Hangar Wing of the Quiet Birdman and the Retired Officers Association.
Erastus C. ''Charlie'' Deal Jr, Longboat Key, FL., a former resident of Huntsville, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1981. He had resided in Longboat Key for 20 years, he was 67. Surviving was a brother, Louis L., of Longboat Key, Fla.
