Edmund L. Maher

Edmund L. Maher was born in New York October 10, 1926 to Edmund and Rose Maher. In Rye his family lived at 241 Purchase St. and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Edmund enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

We know from the U.S. Navy muster rolls that Edward served on the U.S.S. Griggs as a Seaman 2nd class. USS Griggs (APA-110) was a Windsor-class attack transport that served with the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. She was subsequently sold into commercial service and was scrapped in 1973.
