Douglas S Johnston

Douglas S Johnston was born in Thompson, CT on April 19, 1926. He had a brother Gordon and a sister Irene. In Rye his family lived at 850 Forest Avenue Rye, NY . Douglas was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1944.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was honorably discharged following the war.

Doug relocated to Nashville in 1954 and has been a part of the Nashville and Franklin communities since then. For most of his career, he worked in sales for Belding Heminway Corticelli, a New York based manufacturer of industrial thread.

He was passionate about the work of the Exchange Club and the American Legion. He was a past President of the Brentwood Exchange Club and served as Commander of American Legion Post 156 in Brentwood.

Douglas S Johnston, Age 85, passed away November 27, 2011 at home with family following a brief illness.

At the time of his death, Douglas was survived by his wife, Shirley; his brother, Gordon of Corpus Christi, TX; his sons, Doug Jr. (Mary), Brentwood, Ken, Tulsa, OK, Evan (Susan), Lebanon, Chris (Edy), Thompson's Station, Eddie, Nashville; his daughter, Edie (Tom) Kelsey, Madison, MS and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service was held Friday, December 2, 2011, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 510 W. Main, Franklin, TN.
