Daniel Gerry Dobbins
Daniel Gerry Dobbins was born on September 20, 1917, in New Jersey to Florence Lamprecht and J Gerry Dobbins. He was raised in New Jersey and attended Deerfield Academy. His family then moved to Litchfield, CT.
He married Joan Hollaman of Rye, in the Rye Presbyterian Church on May 3, 1941. Before the war he was working for the Bethlehem Steel Company
Daniel enlisted August 5, 1942 and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He served in the Air Force, earning promotions from enlisted man to captain. He was honorably discharged on November 25, 1945.
After the war, Daniel became corporate secretary and plant manager of the Sanborn Map Company, Pelham, N.Y.
He and his family then moved to Bradenton , Fl. There he joined the Siesta Manufacturing Company where the board of directors elected him a vice president, secretary and treasurer.
Prior to his move to Florida, Daniel lived in Norton, Conn., where he was active in Rotary, secretary of the ZonBoard of Appeals, and member of the board of The Town Players of New Canaan.
Daniel Gerry Dobbins died on September 23, 1986, in Norwalk, Connecticut, when he was 69 years old.
