BIOGRAPHY
Charles E. Gedney was born in New York in 1923. In Rye his family lived at 90 Grapal Street and were members of the Presbyterian Church. Charles served as an officer in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
A grad of U. S. Merchant Marine Academy.
Captain Charles Gedney, a long time Lamorinda resident departed this live on 3/24/15. He was 91. He goes to join his beloved wife Cay, daughter Beth & other loved ones who passed before him. Son Chuck, daughter Cathie, granddaughters Rachel & Michal and great-grandchildren Kenley, Lilly & Cooper will miss him.Chick decided on a career in the Merchant Marine as a teen. A grad of USMMA, he served in the navy in WWII. During 40 years working for APL, Chick became senior fleet Captain. He completed 17 Round the World voyages & visited 30 countries.
