Bernard J. Kavanaugh

When Bernard Joseph Kavanaugh was born on October 16, 1924, in Port Chester, New York, his father, Bernard, was 39 and his mother, Sarah, was 38. He had one brother, Thomas C. In Rye his family lived at 290 Grace Church St. His father had been employed as a chauffeur on the estate of Mrs William Peet of Grace Church Street for 49 years. Bernard enlisted in July 1943 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Returning from Philippines— Technician Fifth Grade Bernard J. Kavanaugh, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kavanaugh, 290 Grace Church Street, Rye, is now on his way to the United States for discharge. In the Army since July 1943, Kavanaugh w r as overseas since December, 1944. He was last on duty with the 1489th Engineer Maintenance Company at Base M in northern Luzon.

Bernard Kavanaugh a lifelong Port Chester resident a veteran of World War II died Thursday at United Hospital Medical Center In Port Chester He was 68 He was born Oct 16 1924 in Port Chester to Benjamin and Sarah McNamara Kavanaugh He attended schools in Rye and graduated from Rye High School. During World War II served in the US Army.

Later Mr Kavanaugh worked as a private chauffeur for families in Greenwich He was member of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester

Mr Kavanaugh is survived by a nephew Thomas Kavanaugh Jr or Port Chester and a niece Nancy Bellantoni of Brewster' and four grandnephews A j brother Thomas Kavanaugh Sr and a nephew James -Kavanaugh died earlier Arrangements are being ban-' died by Craft Memorial Funeral sui I Home in Port Chester
