BIOGRAPHY
 
When Aart aka Arthur Peterse was born on April 18, 1902, in Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands, his father, Gerrit, was 30 and his mother, Hendrica, was 23. He married Cornelia J Van Haasteren and they had one son together. He also had one son from another relationship. He died in June 1959 in Toms River, New Jersey, at the age of 57, and was buried there. Art served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II.

AART PETERSE TOMS RIVER -

Aart Peterse, 56, of 1100 E. Washington St., died yesterday at home. He is survived by his wife, Cornelia, a son, Gerard, Holly Village, Toms River; a brother, Joseph Peterse, Rotterdam, the Netherlands; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Peterse was born in the Netherlands and moved to Bethlehem, Pa., as a young man. He later lived in New Rochelle and Rye, N.Y., before moving here in 1946. He was a member of the Merchant Marine during World War II. For the past 11 years he has been a chef and baker at the Riverview Hotel here. Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
