BIOGRAPHY
Sally A. Goedecke
Sally Ann Goedecke was born on February 11, 1920, in Brooklyn, New York, to Rebecca E Skinner, age 21, and Milton Goedecke, age 32. She had one brother

. In Rye her family lived on Hillcrest Lane, Rye and were members of Christ Church.
She attended Milton Elementary School Rye Country Day School and Ryo High School and graduated from Friends Academy on Long Island. She received a bachelors degree in chemistry from Smith College Northampton MA
Sally served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She served as a lieutenant in the Navy's Women's Auxiliary Volunteer Emergency Service. A member of the first midshipmen class of the "Ninety Day Wonders" training course. Sally received her commission in 1942 and served in Hawaii.
Rye Girls Receive Commissions As Ensigns in W. A. V. E. S.
Miss Ann Agry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren C. Agry of Rye Ridge Road, and Miss Sally Goedecke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Goedecke, Hillcrest Lane, received commissions as ensigns in the W. A. V. E. S. at Northampton, Mass. , on Friday.
They will report for active duty on Monday Ensign Goedecke in Boston and Ensign Agry in New York. These young women formed the apprentice seamen group to enter the school at Smith College in October and are the first class of Midshipmen to graduate.
Ensign Agry is a graduate of Bennington College Ensign Goedecke is a Smith College graduate. They and several other W. A. V. E. S. are skiing at Manchester, Vermont, for a few days.

Sally lived in Cornwall CT for thirteen years and prior to that in New York City for many years.
She retired in 1981 from Union Carbide Corp in New York City as assistant director of advertising. Sally was previously manager of publicity and had been with the chemical company's advertising and promotion department since 1949.
She was a member of the Now York Women's Advertising Club. While in Rye she was a member of Christ's Church.
Sally Ann Goedecke retired assistant director of advertising for Union Carbide and a former Rye resident died Sunday September 16, 1984 in Sharon, CT Hospital after a short illness. She was 64.
She was survived by one brother William Skinner Goedecke of Rye.
