BIOGRAPHY
Carl Ernest Fornander
Carl Ernest Fornander was born December 9, 1918 in New York to Oscar and Hilma Larrson Fornander. He had a brother Oscar and two sisters Eleanor and Eve. In Rye his family lived at
39 Grapal St.
and were members of the Presbyterian Church.
Best known as Ernie, he enlisted in 1942 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

After the war Ernie joined the Rye Fire Department. He lived, worked and raised his family in Rye. Ernie enjoyed working with his hands, especially around the home he built. He also loved fishing and boating.
Carl Ernest Fornander, best known as Ernie, retired City of Rye Firefighter, died Friday, December 10, 1999 at Port Chester Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
He was predeceased by his brother, Oscar; and sister, Eleanor. At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, Florence of 49 years, daughters, Lynn and Karin and sister Eve Gerster.
