Charles J. Flood
Charles J. Flood was born on January 26, 1920, in Mount Vernon, New York, his father, James, was 39 and his mother, Josephine, was 30. In Rye his family live at 64 Theodore Fremd Ave and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.
His family moved to Rye when Charles was very young and he was a graduate of Rye High School.
Charles enlisted before the United States entered the war on September 19, 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He served as a Boatswain's Mate 1st Class in the Pacific Theatre of the War. Boatswain's mates train, direct, and supervise personnel in ship's maintenance duties in all activities relating to marlinspike, deck, boat seamanship, painting, upkeep of ship's external structure, rigging, deck equipment, and boats.
Charles was honorably was discharged after almost five years of service on August 2, 1945. (See Discharge Record)
He married Mary Kucther on March 8, 1945, in New York City, New York. They had three children during their marriage.
After her death Charles remarried Rose Sarachino in 1973. He worked as an elevator mechanic until he was forced to retire due to illness.
Charles J. Flood died on March 25, 1977, in Preston Hollow, New York, at the age of 58.
