Joseph D. Bucci was born November 8, 1907 in Port Chester New York to Mary Salvatore, age 28, and Antonio Bucci, age 27. He had four sisters and four brothers and in Rye his family lived at 58 Maple Ave.
Joseph was educated in Port Chester attending Catholic Schools. He was a member of The Salesian Boys' Band. The organization was one of the first boys' bands in the State of New York, and was composed of youths from the Corpus Christi and Holy Rosary parishes.
John Philip Sousa

Joseph married Jane Markell and they would have one daughter. In 1940 Joseph was self employed working as an accountant.
Joseph enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served on the USS Lloyd E. Acree from August 1944 - August 1945.
