Joseph E. Brown

Joseph Edward Brown was born on October 26, 1923, in Port Chester, New York, to Jennie E Bruecher, age 31, and Lester Wynn Brown, age 32.In Rye his family lived at 647 Milton Road. Joseph was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1941.

He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Joseph E. Brown,, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester W. Brown. 51 Park Avenue, Port Chester ,was included among 200 aviation cadets who were given special recognition at Colgate University's recent commencement exercises after completing work in the Naval Flight Preparatory School of the University. To continue his training with the Naval Air Corps, Brown reports this week to St. Thomas College, W. T. School at Albert Lea, Minn. , for the War Training Service course where he will receive his first flight instruction. A 1941 graduate of Rye High School, Brown attended Ohio Wesleyan University before joining the Navy.

After the war Joseph was a sales executive. He had received a bachelor's degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Pi Delta Epsilon and St. Boniface Episcopal Church.

Joseph E. Brown, 80, Sarasota, died Dec. 11, 2003. He retired to Sarasota in the early 1990's from Stamford, Conn.

Survivors included his wife, Jean Hohns Brown; daughters Christine Kitch of Atherton, Calif., and Cynthia Cioffari of Harrison, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.
