James G. Thorburn was born in Massachusetts in 1913. In Rye his family lived at 66 Milton Road and were members of the Presbyterian Church. James served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Former W-M Student To Wed Mr. and Mrs. James F. Manning Jr., or Harrison, N. Y., announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Marylou Manning to Comdr. James G. Thorburn Jr., USNR, son of Mr. and Mrs. James G. Thorburn. of Rye, N. Y. Miss Manning attended Rye Country Day School and was grad uated from the College of William and Mary. She is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Comdr. Thorburn prepared at. Noble and Greenough school and was graduated from Yale unlver sity.
