Herman A. Nichols was born in Illinois in 1922. In Rye his family lived on Forrest Aveneue. Herman served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Ensign Nichols was graduated from Taft School with the Class of 1944. He attended Yale University where he was a member of the Fence club. He received his commission ten days ago at Corpus Christi. Texas.

Herman Armaur Nichols Jr bf Woodstock died Wednesday after a long illness He is survived by his mother Mrs Craven Nichols three daughters Mrs Howard Vagner Mrs James Marceau and Miss Anita Lucille Nichols one son Herman A Nichols III and two sisters Mrs James Emmons and Mrs Harley Higbie
Funeral services Will be private In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover NH
