John F. X. Martin John F. X. Martin was born in New York April 8, 1925 to John E. and Helen. He had three sisters and a brother. In Rye his family lived at 255 Theodore Fremd Avenue and they were members of the Church of the Resurrection. John was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1943. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
John F. Martin Working For Wings In Navy Air Corps ATHENS, Ga. , Naval Aviation Cadet John F. Martin, of Rye, has completed the course of physical conditioning and ground school work at he U. S. Navy Pre-Flight School here and has been ordered to a Naval Air station to begin progressive flight training preparatory to joining a combat unit. Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. John G, Martin. 255 Fremd Avenue, Is a 1943 graduate of Rye High School, where he lettered in football and track. He attended Cornell University, Ithaca, N. Y. , for one year before entering Naval Aviation. He reports now to the Naval Air Nation, Memphis, Tenn.

After the war, John began his broadcasting career in 1948 with the now defunct WLIZ in Bridgeport, CT. Later he joined stations in Cleveland Ohio and Detroit Mich and in 1955 went to WLNA in Peekskill, NY. He also had worked at WIGC in Bridgeport and WNHC in New Haven '
He had received ' several writeups in the show business publication "Variety" for his knowledge of the "Swing Era".
John was living in Stratford Ct, in 1973. He had been with WSTC radio station in Stamford for the past eight years, where he hosted big band and country music shows
John FX Martin, 48, a popular broadcaster in the Stamford area and a Rye native was killed in a one car accident on the Connecticut Turnpike February 16,1973.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife the former Monique Mueller and two daughters Danielle and Michelle.
