Charles Russell Lea

Charles Russell Lea was born on January 8, 1925, the son of Charles Russell and Evelyn Russe Lea, Sr.. In Rye his family lived at 34 Mendota Ave and were members of Christ Church. Russ as he was known, was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1943.

He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Russ served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Transportation Corps. as a Chief Ships Officer. He served again during the Korean War in the U. S. Air Force as a Nuclear Surveillance Technician.

On June 30, 1958 Russ married Gloria Alice Kyle at St. Augustine's Church in Larchmont. They would have four children together

For twenty-nine years he worked from Madison Square Garden as a television engineer. He retired from there in 1990.

Russ was a communicant at Saint Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Peekskill. He was a past Commander of the Yorktown American Legion Post, a past Chef de Gare of the Westchester County 40 and 8, and a former Deputy Representative for Veteran's Affairs Voluntary Service.

Russ was a warm hearted, jovial, giant of a man, well liked by everyone he knew.

C. Russell Lea, a longtime Cortlandt Manor resident died on February 15, 2002.

Two sons, Russell M. of Cortlandt Manor, and James J. Lea of Melbourne , FL survived him along with three grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Gloria, his parents and two daughters: Mary DeLourdes and Evelyn Ann.

A Memorial Divine Liturgy was be held Saturday, March 9, 2002 at Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Peekskill
