Harry G. Jameson

Harry G. Jameson was born in New York in 1926 to Harry and Rose Buschmeyer Jameson. He had one sister Joan.

In Rye his family lived at 385 Midland Ave and were members of the Presbyterian Church. Harry was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1944.

He enlisted March 13, 1944 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Harry had Naval Training In Sampson, New York and Newport, Rhode Island. He served on the USS Vicksburg Cl-86.


USS Vicksburg was a Cleveland-class light cruiser of the United States Navy, which were built during World War II.

The Vicksburg supported the invasions of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. It provided strategic fire support for the US Marine advance during both battles

Harry was awarded The American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific With 2 Stars, Philippine Liberation, Victory and The Good Conduct Medals. He was honorably discharged on January 25, 1946.
