BIOGRAPHY
Joseph J. Holland
Joseph John Holland was born on June 14, 1926, in Rye, New York, to Elizabeth Florence O'Donnell, age 29, and Joseph Hubley Holland, age 27. In Rye his family were members of the Church of the Resurrection.
Joseph enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a World War II Army and Korean veteran.
Joseph married Daisey Elizabeth McArthur in Newton Junction, New Hampshire, on January 24, 1953, when he was 26 years old.
He was employed as a crane operator for a number of years at the Rock Island Arsenal in Iowa. Joseph was a self-educated man and very knowledgeable about the United States and foreign history.
He was an avid reader and proud of his service to his country. Joseph also enjoyed listening to and recording "Big Band" music. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose.
Joseph J. Holland, 65, died Thursday, June 10, 1993, at the Old Soldiers Home, Marshalltown, Iowa.
Survivors included a number of friends in Davenport. Memorial services were held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church
