Joseph P. Calo

Joseph P. Calo was born March 16 1916 in Rye to Nicholas and Catherine Lambarelli Calo. In Rye his family lived at 82 Maple Ave. and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.

Joseph was raised in Rye and graduated from Rye High School. He moved to New Rochelle in the mid-1930's. In 1941 he married Carmella Poggoli at St. Josephs Church in New Rochelle.

Joseph enlisted in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in the Army as a master sergeant in the Philippines.

After the war he went to work for the Army at Fort Slocum as director of civilian personnel and safety officer. When the fort closed in 1965 he went to work as an administrator at Bronx Veterans Affairs Medical Center.



He retired in 1968 but worked as caddy master and starter at Bonnie Briar Country Club inr Larchmont and also as caddy master at Pelham Country Club

Joseph Calo Sr a retired civilian employee at Fort Slocum in New Rochelle and former caddy master at Bonnie Briar and Pelham country clubs died February 14, 1996 at his home. He was 79

At the time of his death he was survived by is survived by a son Joseph Jr. and two grandchildren. Five brothers Frank, Michael, Peter, Mian and John Calo died earlier.
