Luther Bugbee Jr

Luther Bugbee Jr was born November 13, 1918, In Philadelphia, the son of Luther and Marguerite Jordan Bugbee. The family moved to Rye, NY and lived on 20 Adelaide Street (Map View), Luther’s had three siblings Carol, Joan and Byron. By 1940 Luther was no longer living with the family, around 1932 his parents had separated and Luther had graduated Rye High School in 1938.

In High School he participated in many plays before his graduation. Some of these plays include Emperors New Clothes, Tiger House, Seven Keys to Baldpate, Three Cornered Moon, Submerged, The Cradle Song, The Queen’s Husband, Tommy, R.U.R., and he earned two titles, Class Thespian, and Official Late Comer.

After his graduation Luther was given a scholarship to the Feagin School of Dramatic Art in Rockefeller Center, New York. He then attended City College of New York where he majored In Business. Luther also had taken a job for the Dispatch Photo News Service. Luther signed up for the draft on October 16th, 1940. At the time he was living on 448 Forest Ave, and his next of kin was his girlfriend at the time, Elizabeth Jennings.

Luther Enlisted on March 21st, 1941. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and on December 25, 1941, married the former Elizabeth Sarah Jennings. He was honorably discharged July 28,1945 after over four years of service.

After the war, Luther spent his career with the Fawcett Publishing Company, now CBS Publications, retiring as Vice President in charge of circulation for Women's Day Magazine after more than 30 years. He loved to travel throughout the world and Spain was a favorite destination. He was a member of the V.F.W. and will be remembered as a great storyteller and one who had an often irreverent sense of humor. Luther was preceded In death by his beloved wife Elizabeth In 1993, and by his siblings, Byron and Joan.

Mr. Luther Bugbee, 87, of Napa, formerly of New Port Richey, FL, died Friday, April 7, 2006, In Napa following a brief illness.

At the time of his death he was survived by three sons, Robin Bugbee, and his wife Ernestine, of Providence, Rl; Chris Bugbee, his wife Diane, and their children, Sara, Erin, and Isabel, of Los Angeles; and Bruce Bugbee, his wife Beverly, and their children, Rachel, Byron and Colin, of Napa. He was also survived by one sister, Carol Deacon, of Florida.

Sadly Bruce died in 2022, He lived in California and was in poor health. Robin married Ernestine Mitchell and had a no children. Chris married Diane Winston and had two children, Sara and Erin (by a first marriage) who survive him and a sweet child by a second marriage, Isabelle who are all living on the west coast. Twins Chris and Robin’s brother, Bruce , suffered from poor health and died in 2022. Bruce had several grandchildren as did Chris who survive. Once grandchild (Colin) died as a young man.

I loved my Uncke Luther very much. I hope he chose Jesus as Lord. I sure tried to share Jesus' love with him❤.
I hope and pray his children are turning to Jesus in these rapidly changing times. Thanks for posting this. I just saw it for the first time. God bless you.
I'm so grateful I was able to see my uncle, and bring my mom to visit him so much before his move to California.
