Lyndon M. Brown

Lyndon Middaugh Brown was born on May 11, 1892, in Portville, New York, to Minnie Minton Middaugh, age 23, and Rufus Lincoln Brown, age 25. In Rye his family lived at 348 Oakland Beach Avenue.

Lyndon was a graduate of Syracuse University where he studied law.

He married Georgetta Gertrude Boyd in Seneca, New York, on November 23, 1914, when he was 22 years old and they had two children together. He then married Ruth M. Welsh and they had two children together.

Orville Wright certified Lyndon as a pilot on May 31, 1929 when he was 37 years old.

Lyndon enlisted December 14, 1942 and served as an officer in the U.S. Army Air Forces. During World War II he served as a flying instructor in the Royal Canadian Air Force.

The former Miss Ruth M. Brow daughter of Lieut. Lyndon M. Brown, U. S. Army, and Mrs Brown, 348 Oakland Beach Avenue, who was married to William B. Lawrence, Naval Air Corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. William K. Lawrence, Sr. , of 618 Forrest Ave.

Lyndon was former owner of Rye Ford on the Boston Post Road and a retired real estate broker. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution in Naples, FL.

Lyndon Middaugh Brown died Monday April 18, 1977 in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Syracuse, NY where he was a patient since Feb. 14. He was 84. A former Rye resident, His address was at 11-12 St. North, Naples, Fla. at the time of his death.

He was survived by five children, Boyd of Chattanooga, Tenn.; Robert M. of Naples; Charles S. of Elgin, Ill.; Mrs. Ruth B. Lawrence of Severna Park, Md. and Mrs. Marilyn B. Smith of Westport, Conn.; one brother, Carlo M. Paterno; and 14 grandchildren and five great- grandchildren..
