BIOGRAPHY
Frank Walter Patla
Frank W. Patla was born in Chicopee, Massachusetts 8/18/1907 to Wladyslaw Patla and Elzbieta Opielowska.
Per the 1940 Census, In Rye he lived at the Apawamis Club where he worked as a waiter. Frank was 32 and living with 26 others ranging in age from 22-years old to 68-years old. In 1939, he earned $1,651 ($31,369 in today’s dollars) and worked 52 weeks of the year.
He enlisted at Camp Upton on 12 Mar 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Frank served as Henry Cabbot Lodge's mess sergeant for 30 months in Africa and Europe. He went on to be the head steward of The Elks Club in Chicopee, MA.
Frank died 24 Mar 1972 (aged 64) and is buried at Holy Mother of the Rosary Cemetery Chicopee, Massachusett
