Camp Fannin was a U. S. Army Infantry Replacement Training Center and prisoner-of-war camp located near Tyler, Texas. It was opened in 1943 and only operated for four years, before closing in 1946. It is credited with training over 200,000 U. S. Soldiers, sometimes as many as 40,000 at one given time.

Beloved husband of the late Marjorie Melick; devoted father of William (Lisa) Melick, Cynthia Mason and June (Robert) Imhoff; dear stepfather of Kenneth Summerhayes; and loving grandfather of Melanie (Colin) Renner, James Mason, Andrea and Danielle Imhoff, Samantha and Angela Melick.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Vantage House, 5400 Vantage Point Rd., Columbia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vantage House Resident's Assistance Fund, 5400 Vantage Point Rd., Columbia, MD
