Arnold J. Manning
Arnold J. Manning was born March 12, 1920, in Port Chester to Raymond and Edna Park Manning. When he was a child, his family moved to Rye, where he attended school. He had three sisters Arlene, Evelyn and Julie and a brother Raymond. In Rye his family lived at 12 Bulkley Place.
He married Mary G. Travers on Aug.. 10, 1940, in Haines Falls, N.Y. and they would have three children.
Arnold enlisted in the Army on February 12, 1944, in New York City, New York, during World War II. He was 23 years old. He was honorably discharged January 7,1946
After the war Arnold moved to Harrison and lived there for 43 years. He worked as a manager for the A&P supermarkets around the Fairiield-Westchester area, retiring from the store in Greenwich, Conn. in 1976.
After retiring, he worked part time for Kennedy Security, also in Greenwich.
Arnold Manning, a Harrison -resident and retired supermarket manager, died Thursday August 8, 1996 at Yale-New Haven (Conn.) Hospital. He was 76.
At the time of his death he was survived by his wife, two daughters, Priscilla Weber of Milford, Conn. and Lynda Langsam of Greenwich; a son, Edward Manning of Stamford, Conn.; three sisters, Arlene Reilly of Rye, Julie Henne of Daytona Beach Shores, Fla., and Evelyn O'Brien of Spring Hill, Fla.; a brother, Raymond Manning of Palm City, Fla..; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
