Lewis H. Lee

Lewis H. Lee was born October 19, 1924 New York City, son of Lewis H. Sr. and Marion (Updegrove) Lee. He had one sister Nancy and in Rye his family lived at 17 Stuyvesant Avenue.

Lewis was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1942. In school, he enjoyed a variety of clubs and was a member of both the band and the dance band.

He enlisted November 2, 1942 in U.S. Army and served during World War II. Lewis trained to be an anti aircraft gunner in Fort Wallace , TX. He was commissioned a Lieutenant and spent three years in the Pacific Theatre. He was honorably discharged July 19,1946.

Lewis married Jean A. (Andrews) Lee June 21, 1947 in the chapel of the Church of the Heavenly Rest, New York. The Rev. Dr. Henry Darlington performed the ceremony which was followed by a reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Andrews. Jean and Lewis had two children and were married for 52 years.

He worked for Fieldcrest Mills, Inc., Eden, N.C., for 35 years before retiring in 1992 as vice president in charge of planning. He received his bachelor's and master's from California Western University, Santa Ana. He was a member of Jordan Lutheran Church, Orefield.

Lewis H. Lee Jr. Lewis H. Lee Jr., 75, of Luther Crest Retirement Community, South Whitehall Township, died Monday, Dec. 6, in Luther Crest.

At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife; sons, Gary M. of Horn Lake, Miss., and Brian E. of Pompton Plains, N.J., and three grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday in the church. Call 7-8:30 p.m. today, Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th & Hamilton streets, Allentown. Contributions: To the church.
