Arthur J. Kearns
Arthur J Kearns was born on January 23, 1918, in New York, his father, Robert, was 39 and his mother, Alice, was 35. He married Alice Dorthy Sypher on February 2, 1939, in Port Chester, New York. He had one brother and three sisters. In Rye his family lived at 4 Dearborn Ave. and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Arthur enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. A veteran of the Pacific Theater of Operations, where he received the Purple Heart medal for wounds received in action.
ARTHUR J. KEARNS
He was born in the Bronx, January 23, 1918, son of the late Robert J. and Alice Halpin Kearns. A resident of Rye for 43 years, he was a veteran of World War II, Pacific Theater of Operations, where he received the Purple Heart medal for wounds received in action. A former employee of Cadillac Motors in New Rochelle, he was a retired mechanic. When he lived in Rye he was a parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection and later of Holy Trinity Church in Mamaroneck. He died on September 20, 1968, in his hometown at the age of 50.
A mass of requiem was held Monday at the Church of the Resurrection for Arthur J. Kearns, 50, of 729 West Post Road, Mamaroneck, who died Friday night at United Hospital. Interment was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla. He wass survived by a daughter, Mrs. Glenn Wedul of Bedford Hills; three sisters, Mrs. John Whiten and Mrs. Joseph O'Neil, both of Rye, and Mrs. Sherding of Mount Vernon; one grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
