Frank T. Jones
Frank Thomas Jones was born on January 31, 1913, in Newark, New Jersey, to Kate Muriel Biller, age 35, and Frank Richard Jones, age 36. He had a brother Richard and two sisters Kate and Muriel. In Rye his family lived at 55 Meadow Place.
Frank was a graduate of Trinity School in New York
and a 1935 graduate of Kenyon College in Gambler, Ohio. He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta
Fraternity and the Trinity Club in
Round Hill.
He married Margaret Downs in the fall of 1938. At that time, Frank was is associated with
Chubb & Sons, underwriters, of New
York City.
He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Frank first became interested In tuberculosis while serving in the Army Medical Corps in Alaska during World War II
After his discharge, he joined the staff of what was then the Maryland Tuberculosis Association in 1946, but joined the national staff In New York in 1949. Frank remained there until 1955, when he became executive director of the American Lung Association of Maryland.
He was also a former president of the Maryland League for Nursing, the Maryland Public Health Association and the Metropolitan Washington Tuberculosis Conference, which included staff members of local organizations and professional workers in the field.
Frank moved to Florida after his retirement In 1978 from the Job in Baltimore he had held since 1955.
Frank T. Jones, retired executive director of the American Lung Association of Maryland, died Tuesday of cancer at a hospital in Fort Pierce. Fla. Services for Mr. Jones, 79, were conducted yesterday.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, the former Margaret Downs; a sister, Kate H. Jones of Asbury Park, N.J.; four nephews and a niece. The family suggested memorial contributions to the American Lung Association of Maryland or St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Fort Pierce.
